For seniors to have optimum health, we hear it all the time – Stay Active! In the winter that can be a challenge. But now its Spring! A favorite pastime is working in the garden. It is great way to be active. You move, stretch and bend, then you have beautiful flowers in the summer. Of course, you can do some spring cleaning. You know your home is begging for it, after being closed up all winter. While it is rewarding, it is not a lot of fun. A better option would be to get out of house, off your property and out of the neighborhood. I hear you now – “to do what?” The number one reason seniors do not follow this advice, they wrongly believe there is nothing to do. Really? There are so many ways you can stay active in Delaware County, here are a few of them in no particular order: Spend the afternoon at the Brandywine River Museum of Art (yes, it is in Delco) Walk or bike our many trails, parks, and arboretums The Pennsylvania Veterans Museum in Media, a hidden gem Have picnic at Governor Printz Park while you look at the water Booths Corner Farmers Market is a great place to shop for the freshest meats and produce. Other towns have weekly farmers markets, check your local paper or Facebook page There is a great place to see fossils, corals, and other minerals it’s the the Delaware County Institute of Science in Media Go Shopping in Ardmore, Springfield, Media, Havertown, and the list goes on Play golf Visit a brewery or winery Sign up for yourself, a friend or family member for DEL GO Community Transit here.
